The Skull is truly a handful and boasts a massive weight of 5 lbs. It has a beautiful carving of teeth, eyes, and nose- well, what used to be eyes and a nose. It s made purely from a stone called Pyrite.
Pyrite is a very common mineral, found in a wide variety of geological formations from sedimentary deposits to hydrothermal veins and as a constituent of metamorphic rocks. The brassy metallic color of pyrite has in many cases led to people mistaking it for Gold, hence the common nickname Fool s gold .
